Welcome to Christ the King School’s Manna Program!
The Manna Program is run through the Christ the King School Advisory Board as part of an ongoing fundraising program. Each school family is required to accumulate $250 in credit by purchasing gift cards/certificates for their own use. These gift cards/certificates are offered by national and local retailers and are outlined on the order form for your convenience. Our board purchases these gift cards/certificates at a discounted rate (the rate varies by retailer so you will need to refer to the order form for specific details), and then resells them to our families at face value. The difference in the percentage goes towards your $250 requirement. Once a family has fulfilled their $250 obligation, the earnings generated are split between Christ the King and the family on a 50/50 basis. The amount earned over your $250 is awarded as a tuition credit to the family. Each school family also has the option of paying the $250 upfront and declining participation in Manna.
The key to meeting your $250 obligation for the school year is to start
purchasing Manna today. Think Manna before you shop and you will be able to
meet your obligation and works towards earning a tuition credit.
School orders are due to school or the Rectory by 9:00 am on Fridays. We
will fill your order and send it home through school the following Wednesday
or Thursday.

You can purchase Manna in the Rectory basement throughout the week (evening sales on Wednesday are on the first floor of the Rectory).

MANNA Q & A
How can I purchase gift cards/certificates?
Gift cards and gift
certificates are sold year round in the rectory basement.
The selling hours are published in the church bulletin and are
outlined on a calendar sent home each month through school.
You also can submit orders through school using what we call our
“school orders.” These orders
must be turned into school by 9:00 a.m. each Friday.
The filled orders are ready for pick-up each Wednesday night at
Christ the King Rectory between 7-8 p.m.
You can also contact Erin Ross,
CKManna9235@att.net, to make arrangements to pick up your order.
What format will my
gift cards/certificates come in?
The majority of the
companies who participate in the Manna program issue gift cards just like
you receive when you purchase a gift card in a retail store or restaurant.
There are a few companies such as Amazon.com, KFC, etc. that still
issue paper gift certificates.
Many of our local merchants also issue gift cards.
However, Rainbow, Park Cleaners, Garden Cleaners, etc. still issue
paper gift certificates.
What happens if I make a purchase with my
gift cards or gift certificates and it doesn’t exhaust the total
denomination placed on these?
If you make a purchase
with a gift card, the balance left after your purchase will remain on the
gift card. For example, if you
go to the movies using your AMC movie card and begin with a denomination of
$25 but spend only $20 your card will be left with a $5 balance.
Most companies outline the beginning denomination as well as the
existing balance on the receipt they give you when you complete your
transaction. Manna users have
found that keeping these receipts wrapped around their cards until the next
use makes an easy way to track your balance.
Some users write the value left on the back of the card using a
“Sharpie” marker and track it that way.
Many of the local merchants will simply give you cash back as long as
the cash owed does not exceed more than a few dollars.
How will I know how much I have earned through the Manna Program?
The Manna coordinators
enter your order information into a software system used to track all Manna
purchases. We will send a
quarterly update to you via e-mail so that you can track your total dollars
spent. If you fail to earn $250
in purchases, you will have to write a check for the difference as the $250
is required. You must fulfill
your responsibility by the end of the Christ the King fiscal year which is
June 30th. If you are
the parent of an 8th grade student who is your last or only child
in the school, you must fulfill your Manna obligation by May 1st.
If I exceed the $250 requirement how do I apply my tuition credit to Christ the King?
You will receive a final
statement after the close of the fiscal year confirming any credit you have
earned. Families are asked to
redeem this credit during the first quarter of the following school year.
Specific instructions are included with the final report.
