The Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD)

These days it is not hard to imagine having to choose between rent or health care, food or transportation, Household bills or clothing for your children.

For many Americans, these choices are forced by a recent layoff, pay freeze, or retirement fund decrease. For 37 million Americans who live below the poverty line, the options are only diminishing.

The Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) makes a difference in low-income communities by funding programs that address the root causes of poverty. More than ever, CCHD needs your support in today's Collection. Thank you for your generosity.

The Spred Ministry

The Spred ministry is for children, 6 to 10 years of age; teenagers, 11 to 16; young adults, 17 to 21; and adults, 22 and over with developmental and intellectual challenges and learning disabilities. We will be welcoming children. We have six: Daniel, Jack, Michael, Aidan, Eoin and Joseph.

We have men and women who will offer the gift of friendship and form a one on one relationship with them within a small faith group. But we can welcome others.

You don’t feel qualified? The fact is no previous experience with people with mental retardation, autism, cerebral palsy, epilepsy and learning problems is necessary because training is provided.

Parents and interested people are invited to an informational gathering on Tuesday June 29, 2010 at 7:00 pm in the Gleeson Center. We can’t do this without YOU! Friendship is key to this unique program. There are no books, classrooms, or homework. The space we will set up is like a living room because of the way we share our faith with one another.
